Rypke X Lute
1998 1st Premie Ster Gelding

While attending Midwest Horse Fair in 2002, we saw our first Friesian and knew we had to get one of them! After hours of research, we were fortunate to make connections with Tys. He was imported from the Netherlands in the fall of 2002 and was out in California. After a visit in January he was officially ours, but we had to wait for the winter thaw and he arrived in April.

It was determined early on that Tys’ abilities were beyond our skill set. In time, Jamie accepted our challenge and she began dressage lessons with Tys. In their first year of competition, they won the USDF All Breeds Award for Training Level and FHANA’s President’s Award. In the years that followed, they have continued to climb the levels.
2010 was a banner year for the team. Now competing at Third Level, Tys earned his Sport Predicate in only 5 rides (5 Third Level scores of at least 60%). Once again Jamie and Tys earned the USDF All Breeds Award this time for Third Level and won the President’s Award.
While primarily used for dressage, Tys is also trained to drive. He is a great teacher and is a calming influence on a green beginner.

Tys is more than Fenway’s top completion horse; he is yet another goodwill ambassador for the Friesian horse. He and Jamie have participated in countless parades, Midwest Horse Fair and they are the highlight every year at the local elementary school. Tys’ favorite part of the visit . . . a line of smiling second graders with a carrot in each little hand!
