Just home from our weekend at Midwest Horse Fair, we regrouped and headed down to the Kentucky Horse Park for the 2012 ROLEX. Once again the Friesians were asked to demo during the three-day event and Fenway Farms was honored to be a part of it again this year. The cast of players was a little different than in 2011, even for Fenway Farms as Tiger made his Kentucky debut.
Tiger set aside his dressage moves for the weekend and was presented in long lines by Jordan Steenbeek. He was followed by Jamie and Tys strutting their stuff in the dressage presentation. Clay Maier, a native of Lexington presented his two Friesians riding tandem and the grand finale were driving exhibitions by the Gerben Steenbeek family of Ontario, Canada. They exhibited their four in hand CDE driving expertise with a marathon carriage on days one and three and showcased an elegant carriage on day 2. The crowds seemed to really appreciate the presentations and just like Midwest Horse Fair, flocked around the boys once the demos were complete. As always, it was pure joy to watch the reaction and hear the stories of people’s dream “to one day own a Friesianâ€. We are living the dream!
Once again Jamie and Tys were part of the Parade of Breeds. This year we were actually stalled in the Breeds Pavilion so the boys got some extra TLC there as well. As usual, we spent a fair share of time in the trade show area and had our fill of Bourbon chicken for another year.
